The summer series begins.

It doesn't need to be mentioned that the Sunday rides have fallen to the wayside recently. But it is completely understandable why it's happened. Some of us got a call from the hills that we couldn't ignore, others found 50 inches and G-Turns. It's great that everyone's branched off and focused on a style of riding that they really love, but that shouldn't mean that Crankys has to die a forgotten old man.

As much as I'm sure we all enjoy our own little niche, nothing beats catching up with the crew, grabbing a coffee and some food, and going for a laid-back ride and talking shit. Like the good old days (6 months ago?). So, that in mind, I propose that instead of letting Crankys fade to black, we evolve.

How about we set aside the last Sunday of every month to have a good old fashioned Cranky Sunday. I know that's a month away from now, but this weekend is too short notice, and I think it should be either the first or last weekend of the month so YOU DO NOT FORGET!

Any objections?

That isn't to say that we can't hook up more often than that, or plan special Cranky rides like Frankghanastan, but as long as everyone knows that at the very least we all hook up on the last Sunday, then we good.

Peoples,

Was speaking to Benny Tatts and we want to do the event. I know I have been missing with rides cos i've been hanging with the tricksters, but this is something I said I would like to accomplish this year. Its been mentioned a few times amongst us, but nothing has come of it. Registration has closed for the big 250km ride, but is still open for the 240km and 100km ride.

Benny and I are def keen and will probably register by end of the next week, but I thought I should bring it up to see if anyone else is interested. The entry costs are much more than your average alleycat entry, but every public sporting event has some sort of entry fee. Totally understand if you think its too much to pay to ride with thousands of idiots.

Also I know you guys are all hardcore fit and think that if we do it, we should do the most kms or forget about it, but I personally wouldn't be able to ride 250kms in a day on fixed. I say 100kms is heaps and for me is def doable in a respectable time. I also don't want to write off myself for a week after just to do it.

So what do you say? Decisions have to be made real soon cos looks like they are closing entries pretty soon.

I know its been a veeeeery long time since we first announced that kits were being made. Its been a hard road organising crew and fitting into each other schedules! BUT, we are making progress! The base kit is nearly sorted and we are working on some final details. That being said, its still a wee ways away!

Just like Pantene Pro-V. It won't happen over night, BUT it will happen!

Thank you to everyone who has already shown their support with deposits. We will need everyone else to follow suit shortly!

We should have some base kits images in the next fortnight for ya'll to have a gander at!

We had a great Queens birthday ride! Im not sure where we went, but the sun was shinning, the heckling was rife and the beer flowed afterwards (aye benzy/trig?)! Stoked that i decided to rock up, the 70+ k's killed me!
Its also interesting to note the transition from sneakers to cycling shoes!

Bumped into the STEADY ROLLIN crew from New Zealand today and they seemed keen on coming to ride Sunday with us. Yesterdays Cranky ride was pretty epic. Im not sure exactly where we went, but it was along the Yarra trail up to Templestowe via the single track path normally used by mountain bikers. I suppose I kinda get the whole attraction of cyclecross now, but something about riding off road on fixed made it super fun. Maybe next time we should pre plan ahead so at least everyone has a chance to change their bars to risers and tires to more than 23c Gatorskins!!! I wish we took some pics but I guess we were all having too much fun to even worry about it.

I want to get the ball rolling. SO, ive added my email so i can get everyones emails and start group mailing about stuff out side of this blog!

So email me your emails for a start, then anything else you may want to. Such as wanting to help design or find sponsers etc etc

The biggest hitch at this point is that we need 10 people willing to buy the same item. After that, anything goes. eg: if we buy 10 short sleave jerseys, we can then buy 7 knicks, 15 caps and 4 sets of warmers or what have you... (so have a wee think about that, but let it be known that we cant be going crazzzzy, the more items the more design work involved)

I was having a yarn to a mate today who said he got some custom made team kits done a few months ago (for supreme). Curious, i asked how much... Turns out you can get a base kit (short sleave top and bib nicks) for around $180 aud. Alot cheaper then i had thought, and before you say, but cam, you need a min order of like 20-30... Your wrong! Min order is only 10!

SO, I figured it wouldnt be the worst idea in the world to gauge some interest!!!

There's plenty of crew around who can design a killer kit!

So whadda ya rekon???

So it's no Cannonball Run or Vanishing Point, and there are a couple of guys on bikes with GEARS! but having seen the film its pretty cool.

Those who came on 'Ball, Sweat and Beers' or 'Cranky Goes to Lonny' bike tour will empathise with the friendships forged/strengthened on these trips.

It's free and there's indoor bike parking, cheap beers and a chance to talk sh!t on/with your friends before the long weekend.

It's about time we organised a new meeting place for the Cranky Rides.
Maybe we should put it to a vote?

There has been talk of meeting at Seven Seeds, which, in my opinion will be more of a time waster than a meeting place. But if we are going to meet at a cafe, why not make it somewhere central?

I think meeting in front of the Melbourne Library (or somewhere of the like) will make it a lot easier for newcomers to come and join us.

Hey peeps, if you don't have much on tonight and want a cheap feed - come to Revolver for some thai food. They do a 50% off meals for traders and members - but if you're not a member, just come see me at the decks and ill give you a traders card to get the discount.

There is also a small designers market to check out tonight. I will be bringing some old records to sell as well as maybe a few pairs of shoes to move for cheap. Ill be there from 6 till 10-ish so you can come anytime.

They also cater for vegetarians, altho I'm not sure how vegan it is. One of the main managers is a full vegetarian and she eats there every other night so I know its kosher.

Hope to see some of you there!
