Life lessons using a saw and a roll of glad wrap
As our sunday (and wednesday) rides get longer there's a lot of merit in taking some tips from those who ride longer than us regularly...
Wade @ CT is a source of much wisdom... (baby wipes?)
Here he gives up some good signals/calls. I think we could all learn something here...

I am really pro all this even tho I don't adopt all the rules just yet.
I especially don't like people running lights when in a (big) group. We all are guilty of it at one time or another, but I fail to see the point of splitting the group just cos you don't wanna stop for a light.
All the other tips are basic but very important as well so everyone should read up and learn.
+1. nice work nic.
lets see how wed night goes this week...
its a good thing for kids to know,i tend to use signals a lot when riding in a big roadie bunch with the ol man,and on our bigger missions,it works well..i agree with hans,we are all guilty of running reds, but the running through lights in a big group is bad news ,especially for the new kids at the back struggling to keep up and then almost getting smashed by a car just coz they dont want to be left behind isn,t fair and discourges them from having a good time on the bike.
yeah, fully agree. if you chose to 'lead' the ride (ie be in front, but maybe not control the direction) it is your responsibility to consider the whole group and not just you and the mate you are racing.
calling 'rolling' is reasonable when you are trucking into some lights in a tight group, but not checking to see if the group has made it, or leading them into a game of involuntary frogger isnt cool.
and for those that are silently reading this and thinking 'if you cant stand the heat, get out of the kitchen' - (aka everyone should look after themselves) - i'd recommend riding down plenty road back from whittlesea/mernda by yourself vs in a group.
if we help each other we will all learn to use these signals quickly... and any roadies we ride with (and drop ;]) will be more likely to give us some respect.
Thanks Nikcee! Like your blog as well. Bookmarked!
Cheers,
Wade
Great to see you here on our hunble hack job of a blog Wade.
Im a big fan of yours even tho we're not roadies! A lot of the 'tips' do come in handy!
Keep up the stellar work.
