Cranky Kits

I was having a yarn to a mate today who said he got some custom made team kits done a few months ago (for supreme). Curious, i asked how much... Turns out you can get a base kit (short sleave top and bib nicks) for around $180 aud. Alot cheaper then i had thought, and before you say, but cam, you need a min order of like 20-30... Your wrong! Min order is only 10!

SO, I figured it wouldnt be the worst idea in the world to gauge some interest!!!

There's plenty of crew around who can design a killer kit!

So whadda ya rekon???

p.s here the webby. Champion Systems

I was talking with Hans a while back about about the possibility of doing "team cranky round the bay in a day fixed" and getting sponsored to cut cost of having kits made for the ride, whether that is a seperate run or the same is up for discussion but its something to think about...

evis: only time will tell re logo etc. one/some of the crew would need to design it etc.
ben: sounds like a rad idea, i think a round the bay kit would be enough. making one kit let alone two would be hard work enough!

we can have a yarn on sunday about it all...

Benny Tatts - I think you mentioned once that your company did cycling kits, and that they had contacts to get them done.

I have spoken to Woody and he is all cool with being part of it, but I need to know some facts.

How much would it cost first of all to get them made.

Secondly, how much would SF have to outlay for the kits etc. How does the money situation work? Would we (the riders) have to pay out of our own pockets? Maybe we can get more sponsors on board, but I dunno how that works in terms of getting some coin out of them for nothing.

Thirdly, I will need a PDF of the jersey/bib so we can get the design done inhouse.

Lastly as always, we take forever to get anything done cos we like to talk about things more than be responsible for it. So the faster we can get shit happening, the more likely this will become reality.

My work has contacts with Nalini, an italian cycling clothing manafacturer, it is another option but may be more expensive and take longer than the champion systems kits. I can vouch for the quality of champion systems as the CMWC jersey i have is made by them.

Cost for short sleeve jersey + bib knicks is about $180. We could get a few sponsors onboard, with the incentive of incorporating their logo into the design if they contribute to the cost of getting them made. Other sponsorship options could be for them to donate bikes or parts for us to use on the ride but that might be pushing it.

im happy to organise it all. deal with money and heads etc etc.

i had an idea about money, and that was to maybe start a cranky bacnk acc, that way we can collect money asap and ge tthe ball rolling. and that way we will also have a proper record of whos paid and how much.

as far as sponsers, i guess we have two option..

1, make a round the bay kit and get who ever we can to help

2, make a straight cranky kit, with minimal sponsers, esp. ones that i/we might not want to be seen with on a daily basis. if you get what i mean... like im cool rocking supreme coffee or what ever, but to roll around every day with a shit looking logo or brand on my kit wouldnt be soo cool...

i dont know who or what SF is, so cant comment there...

other wise, we can chat at the rollers more about it all.

Yeah obviously we would be selective about sponsors, no one wants k-mart logos on the kit, only companies/brands we collectively want to support.

SF is Sneaker Freaker, which is particularly relevant to cranky sundays as most if not all of the founders of the ride and blog were from that forum. Its also how i found out about the ride...

But whatever, one kit or two it doesnt really bother me personally, i'd pay full price for a nice understated one and also be happy to be a part of organising sponsors for a seperate kit for round the bay in a day...

Sounds like a plan. Im all for just getting a standard kit with minimal sponsors.

Maybe we should set up a group email instead of discussing money issues in a public place?

I'd love one of these, I also think that doing Round the bay with team Cranky would be the coolest shit ever. I'll be at the rollers. I love youse all.

and i think just doing round the bay with cranky crew would be a good way to get everyone,i mean everyone together for a descent roll.

champion make some amazing kit... see wade walaces post here on how it all works with them (and how you can get your designs to them):
http://www.cyclingtipsblog.com/2009/06/champion-system-clothing/
and a follow up:
http://www.cyclingtipsblog.com/2009/12/thank-you-champion-systems/

i have a champion cap and have worn their jerseys and recommend both. i have seen a tonne of their kit around as well and it looks very well put together. see wades comments (and this is from a guy who has worn some very good quality stuff).

id be into wearing one and i have faith in the sponsor vetting should some be invited. i know the design is likely to be topnotch as well ;)

i know knog kicked in a bunch of jerseys to get a team shot... but it would have been crazy to have had crew riding fast/furious in crankys jerseys.
