To Skin or not?

My 'good' bike shorts (which are team kit for my LBS in vancouver) have a 'compression' type fit that is strange at first, but does feel like it helps (or it could be the amazingly colourful and technical chamois they have).

In related news: Roubaix fabric is one of the best inventions ever... or so my legs think in the recent chilly weather (discounted leg warmers FTW).
