Cranky Sundays T-Shirts

Hey yo.

So, how sweet would it be to have a Cranky Sundays t-shirt!

Pretty fucking sweet is what a lot of people have been saying for awhile now, so I've put together a few relatively simple, but hopefully acceptable designs.

Allow me to first give you a small explanation of the designs.

On the whole, the designs are based around simple track cycling imagery; the line markings on a Velodrome, and/or a chainring (campy!) and sprocket. Adding to them is the text, 'We Will Survive'. The idea behind this is that for me, riding fixed reminds me a lot of the early days of skateboarding: it's largely misunderstood, oft disliked by Joe.P, and by anyone who doesn't actually ride, and probably a lot who do to, consider it to be a fad and nothing more.

But I know I wont be dropping my bike when fixed gear riding stops getting press, and I'm fairly certain that the large proportion of people who turn up every Sunday feel the same way, hence, WE WILL SURVIVE!

Now, down to business.

I'm not rich, nor is Hans, or anyone else that I know apart from some family friends back in NZ but it's been too long since I spoke to them to ask for some free money. So with that in mind, getting the final design printed onto tees is going to rely on some commitment to purchase from everyone, and where possible, pre-orders.

What we need is for everyone to take a look at the designs, and firstly give us feedback as to which one, if any, you prefer. And secondly, and most importantly, for you to let us know that you will definitely be purchasing one, regardless of which final design is chosen. The t-shirts are probably going to be around $25 each, which is so cheap. If you can't afford $25 to rep your crew, thn srsly, gt a jb! Every effort is going to be made to have these produced at the highest quality we can, which will probably be largely affected by how many are ordered. Noone is profiting from the sale of them, and any money that is left over afterwards is going to be put towards something special for Cranky Sundays ;) So get into it.

Now, without any further ado, here are the designs as they stand at the moment. To get a closer look, download the PDF in the link below. And one last note, these are CONCEPTS! I haven't crafted these to perfection, and will be tightening up the final design once it's decided upon.

Thanks!

Hello. I'm not a fan of the text either, I reckon we could come up with some heaps better slogans - just be patient and they will come. I saw a t-shirt on the internet that had a slogan that said "DROP BARS NOT BOMBS" in large letters, one word per line. I reckon something like that with a clever reference to bikes would be pretty cool.

If you want to stick to the ignoring the fad when its over idea, a good phrase would be 'Keep on keepin on', and i would suggest that.... but i stole it from the same guys that had the 'drop bars not bombs' site. http://www.zlogblog.com/2009/07/keep-on-keepin-on.html

Anyway, I'm down to buy a couple of t-shirts, lets just keep brainstorming for a bit though.

By the way - I think the 'Cranky Sundays' logo is pretty good, I would buy a t-shirt with nothing but the cranky sunday logo on it. Who designed it?

Sweet job fella..
I feel that no.4 with just cranky sundays.. (different text) would be amazing.. I think we should definitely get behind this and do a series.. What do you guys think?

The slogan 'Drop Bars Not Bombs' is pretty cheap. It has been done by everyone from skaters to novelty shops in one way or another.

Its ok that we don't go with a slogan. My first instinct for a design was to just use the Cranky logo.

But all said, we need to make a decision yesterday. The main point of rushing these out is so that the two Bens could take em and rep them in Japan at the championships.

I know from experience that when personal ideas from too many people come together that nothing will end up getting done.

So I suggest that we narrow down and simplify the design - post up the final couple - and get some definite confirmation on numbers so we can get the ball rolling. But lets get it done in the next few days...

'We Will Survivie' is coming out. Design 4 is going to be worked up to a final design, with Cranky Sundays by itself on there somewhere. I'll have something up in a couple of days. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I'm in for one... i'd have supported #4 anyway (less show, more go)

No 3 is my fave. Not a big fan of the typeface that 'Survive' is in on the other three. But they're all cool designs. Love the idea of the velodrome lines.

And depending on quantities i could do this fairly cheaply at my work. I'll chat to y'all on wednesday nite about that tho.
